Action and uses: Helps to clear pathogenic heat especially in the blood; detoxifies and resolves fire toxins, invigorates the blood and reduces swellings and tumours.
Treats various types of cancer (especially lung cancer).
Used hepatitis, cirrhosis of the liver with ascites (see my Ascites Tonic) I.e. it helps to clear accumulation of fluid in the abdomen due to cancer and liver damage.
Promotes urination and reduces oedema. Dispels blood stasis and stops bleeding.
Useful for swollen and painful pharynx.
Also used for snake and insect bites, external injuries and burns.
Active medicinal constituents: portulal, betacyanin, betanin, betanidin.
